'The Art of Organising' - workshop


Theme : The Art of Organising

Speakers : Brother Sanath

Brief Overview :

Brother Sanath, who works as a lecturer, is an experience speaker and has conducted various of workshop for bk family and non bks. In this workshop of the Art of Organising, he first shared with us the few main points that we need in organising and planning. In order to have the skill or organising, we must first learn to organise oneself. For a plan to work, it's best to set the deadline for 3 months time. The youths were asked to go deep within, reflect and list down the 2 goals each in 4 areas:
1 Spirituality
2 Health / Exercise
3 Relationship
4 Career/ Education

Each goal were strenghten with a habit or commitment. The goal was to be reviewed again after 14 days.

The youths shared that this workshop was really good, simple and useful because they learned to set the plan and be responsible in carrying out the plan for it to succeed. After all...Victory is our BirthRight!!

'Public Speaking Training'

Theme : The Art of Public Speaking

Audience: Bk youths

Venue : Klang 1 Centre, Klang, Selangor.

Speakers : Sister Kamala

Brief Overview :

For the Public Speaking Training, the session was divided into two parts. The First part was conducted by a Professional Public Speaking Trainer. He taught and shared with the youths the right way to speak in public, the importance of listening, eyes contact with audience and body languages while speaking. Each had a chance to go up in front, introduced themselves and speak on a simple topic given to them; while others observe. This was to train them to be spontaneous whilst speaking, and also the skill to listen to the speech and point out the good and bad points of the speech.

Second part is conducted by Sister Kamala on how to give poster explanation during exhibitions. Sister Kamala only focused on three main posters: Soul, God Shiva and Three World. She highlighted the main areas to explain, and told them to make it straight forward and short. To give more introduction of Raja Yoga, she advised them to ask the visitor to come to the centre for more information and take the full 7 days course later.

'Study Smart' - Workshop

Theme : Final Preparation Before Entering the Examination Hall

Venue : Seminar Room, Bangsar Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Speakers : Brother Ragavan & Brother Veeriah

Brief Overview :

A smart Study programme was organized for the students who are sitting for their major examination in school or college. This was to help them to prepare and enjoy the exam.

We had 15 youths who attended the workshop. The first speaker was Brother Ragavan, an experience private tutor, shared with the youths on how to organize their study plan, and gave tips on how to stay focus on their study.The next speaker was brother Veeriah, who is also a private tutor. He shared the insights on how to relax and enjoy their study and also shared the knowledge in preparation for the exam. The youths also learned on how to stay calm during the exam.

Feedback:

The youth has benefited from the group discussion and personal advice given by the speakers on the area how to stay focus on study, and methods to overcome the weaknesses in study.

'Youth Picnic'


Theme: Family Time

Event Type: Picnic (1/2 day)

Audience : Program arranged for BK Youths

Age group : 15-27

Venue: Taman Metropolitan, Selangor

Date: 13 July 2008

Details of the event:

The youths had an outing to Taman Metropolitan, a beautiful, clean and newly open park with lots of greenery and lake. Youths spend the first 20 minutes in having a silent walk, giving the self time to reflect, and also to spread peaceful vibrations to the surrounding nature.
Then we came together, and shared our experiences.

After a short exercise, we had fun playing brahmin soccer. Youths were divided into 2 groups, Group A - Angels & Group B- Baba.
Youths had a good workout, but also had lots of fun playing the royal soccer.
After the game, we had sharing, whilst sitting under the big shady tree, and enjoying the cool breeze.


'Positive Change' - workshop


Theme: Positive Change

Event Type: 8 session’s workshop on positive change.

Audience: Program arranged by BKs for other BKs and non BKs

Age Group : 13-30 years

Number of attendees: 22 (for the 1st session, average attendees 12 for each session)

Venue: Harmony house Bangsar, KL, Malaysia

Date: April to Aug 2008

Brief Overview:

It was conducted by sis Celia and Bro Sanath.
We had an overwhelming response for the 1st session of the Positive Change course held on 5th April. A total of 22 youth attended (18 lokik youth &4 BK youth) for the first session.

This excludes the 5 BK facilitators. Participants were guided to see what are the positive & negative habits and activities they have, and how it influences to the daily life. Also, during the duration of this 8 workshops, the youths reflected and discussed their positive and negative traits in them, and methods to enhance more positivity in their life. At the each session, they collect a pearl, that symbolises a point which they have learned, or want to practice.

A certificate was awarded for those who had completed 8 sessions.

'Financial Management' - Part 2

Speakers : Brother Menon

Brief Overview :

This talk had conducted by Bro Jr Menon (PJ); he is holding a senior management post in EPF, Malaysia. Bro Menon has been in gyan for many years and conducted many type of BK courses to the BKs and non BKs.

Receiving the feedbacks from attendees, it was said the youths wanted to know more on other area of financial management also. So, Part 2 was arranged later and shared more on details. It was a quite interesting sessions, for us, most of us are in college or have been working for few years. It was a good opportunity to check our spending in lokik n alokik way.

In the Financial Management – :

He had shared a lot on our savings and controlling our spending. He also advised the youth to learn how to plan their finances. And as a Bk youth, we still need to have some savings and small investments too for the future need or service.

"You First" - Bk Youth Retreat 2007



Theme: Bk National Youth Retreat - "You First".

Event Type: 3 days Retreat By Youth for Youth

Audience: Bk youths

Venue: International Youth Centre, Cheras, Malaysia - a quiet place surrounded by greenery & nearby a lake.

Date: 7 - 9 December 2007

Detail of the event:

This retreat was planned by the Malaysian Youths, and we were fortunate to have sister Gobi and Sister Minah from UK as the facilitators for this retreat. About 80 bk youths from all over Malaysia and Singapore joined for this 3 days 2 night retreat.
The retreat was full of fun activities involving self reflections meditation, workshops, Spiritual dialogues, dance along, silent walk to the lake, and also Youth service planning . Youths had their time to explore the self and uplift the spirit within, and also to feel the love spiritual love from the Father and the bk youth family.

Feedback:
The reflection time on the evening of the first day really made all youths to go really within, and reflect and to let go of the weakness to God.

Youths also had a powerful amrit vela experiences.

Youths on the Go - Part 2


Theme: Youths on the go - visiting another centre

Bk Youths had the oppurtunity to travel to another centre, located about 30minutes from the main centre. Youths were divided into 3 groups. The activities that took place were such:

Outdoor games:
1. Hunt for knowlegde (treasure hunt)
2.Shrimat vs Manmat (passing the message accurately)
3. Stick for the blind ( park a car where the driver is blindfolded, and other members pusing the car)
4. Ignite the 3rd eye (walking on a wood platform with holding a lamp)

Indoor Games:
1. Churning knowledge with pictures from Bhagawad Gita

Cooking Demo:
Cooking in rice cooker for travelling bks and youths, Cooking tips by the Bk Mother. (sis Shirley)

Feedbak:
1. A well balanced programe with games and knowledge
2. The youth bk youths had a good exposure
3. Felt powerful and loving atmosphere during the gathering.

'Youths on the Go'


Theme: Youths on the go - visiting another centre (located 45 mins hours drive)

Event Type: 1/2 day bk youth gathering with cooking demo.

Audience : Program arranged for BK Youths

Age group : 13-27

Venue: Sangam Bhawan Nilai, Malaysia

Date: 15 April 2007

Brief overview:
- sharing on Kitchen Maryadas, and Cooking Consciousness
- Marble Cake Cooking Demo
- Tour around the Sub-centre
- Discussion of youth Participant in Asian Retreat

Details of the event:

Bk Youths had the oppurtunity to travel to another centre, located 45 minutes from the main centre. We had sharing on consciousness before, and whilst cooking, the importance of Brahma Bhojan, and briefly discussed the maryadas of the kitchen. This gave insights to many youths who were present. The youths also had Cooking Demo, on how to bake a marble cake- which we named 'The Cake of Virtues'. After the demo, youths had a delicious lunch on Banana Leaf (south india style ) .

'Together' - Bk Youth Picnic


Theme: Family Time

Venue: Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Selangor, Malaysia

Date: 24 March 2007

Details of the event:

The youths left the centre to the nearby lake after murli, and had picnic breakfast there.
The Aim of the event was to create the feeling of togetherness and family. The Youths had knowledge and fun playing games like the BK Snake and Ladder, and 'Heaven is coming'.
Overall, the event was a happy and lovely outing for the youths who came.
